I was thinking for starters to try to piggyback on some TV pop culture icons from my yoth:

Friday Night Fights
Saturday Night Live
Wonderful World of Wargaming (instead of Disney)

I've been watching the ClustrMaps trends and we have a very strong european contingent. Therefore, let's schedule the theme nights to begin at 8pm GMT on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

In tribute to some of the coolest and most professional people I worked with during my
military career, I propose the themes follow the acronym for Combat Control Teams (CCT).

C = Cavalry (napoleonics, American Civil War, American Revolutionary War)
C = CDG (Card-Driven Games)
T = Tactical (combat commander, squad leader, white star rising, TCS, mustangs, Flying Colors, …)

with a wildcard of Navy night on the 9's

We can try it for a few weeks and see what everybody thinks, adjust it as necessary or deep six it completely.

Well the first weekend of themed meet-up offerings didn't seem to be very popular.

I apologize that I had to work both Friday and Saturday (had a pesky bug in my software code at work which is due NLT Monday). Therefore, I was not available for FNF or SNL.

Due to some feedback, I decided to back off the wildcard Navy night on the 9's concept.

For next weekend, I added moonlight maneuvers at 0200. This is based to the poll data from the yahoo group. Also, it is an attempt to accommodate players in Australia while still not starting too late for US east coast players. I'm not sure how far to go with the FNF/SNL/TWWOD time, I'm moving it to 20:30Z in an attempt not to make it too late for European players yet late enough in the morning so players in Australia and the orient. It translates into afternoon games in most of the United States.

any feedback? or should we stick with game-specific events?

Maybe the themed nights should wait until we've got a few more regular participants?

Perhaps a come-one come-all meetup time for now, and sort out gaming on an ad-hoc basis for a while?
