Summary:

the concept of a themed meet-up is to establish a theme and a time block when players with certain common interests can have a reasonable expectation that they will be able to find someone with similar interests to play a game.

I've tried to float a couple of trial balloons with regards to themed-meet-up times and themes.

I'm looking for feedback about what you like or don't like about them and how can we make them more effective.

At the end of January, I plan to launch a couple of opinion polls on the website to solicit specific feedback. But, I would really like to hear from you here as well in a free-form discussion. I'm sure many of you have some great ideas - let's hear them and give some of them a try.

And always remember the primary purpose of this site is to Play Wargames More and Enjoy Wargames More.

I think it would be helpful for as many gamers as possible to meet up for a chat asap to try and thrash out some areas of common interest.

Purely as a discussion point, my interests are:

Memoir '44 (especially Overlord format), Battlelore, C&C Ancients and I'm going to learn C&C Napoleonics.

Tide of Iron.

CDG Point to Point games
I know Paths of Glory well
I've played WW2 Barbaroissa to Berlin once and own it.
I'm currently brushing up on Shifting Sands with Mike Owens
I have Hannibal vs Rome but I've not played it
I have Empire of the Sun but I've not played it
I have A most Dangerous Time but I've not played it.
I have Pursuit of Glory but I've only played it solo once.
I have Combat Commander: Europe but I've only played it solo once.
I would be happy to learn any other point to point CDG's (I've sort of grown out of traditional hex and counter games)

Non-war strategy games
I hugely enjoy Through the ages
Manifest Destiny (3-5 player CDG)
Origins: How we became human (3-5 player CDG)

Availability

UK (GMT)
Which means late eveining EST is not good for me, and hence I tend to mainly play PBEM, however, I intend to attend as many themed events as possible where the timeframe works for me.
