Anyone who can … I highly recommend participating in the WAR COLLEGE at ORIGINS 2011 in Columbus, Ohio.
There are a group of events called STAFF WARGAMING (listed under roleplaying events) where the guys from the War College (yes, the US Army War College) run a game in which the participants take the role of CC, XO, G2, G3, G5, … etc and try to defeat the enemy. Most Excellent!! Afterwards, their is a hot wash and analysis with the professional wargamers evaluating how the team did.
Another set of events which I highly recommend are called ARMORED PREDATORS in the miniatures section. A father and son team run this tank vs tank (about 15-20 tanks per side … usually their are 10-20 players). The use a set of house rules which are fairly similar to PANZER!
I'm a bit swamped at work and won't be able to attend this year. But, if you can … I highly recommend that you do. Besides, the VENDOR hall usually has a who's who of wargaming designers at the various publishers' booths (JD Webster, Larry Bond, Lou Zocchi, Mark Walker, Dean Essig, Steve Cunliffe, …)
- enjoy!
